Director, Resource Center
- Purchases and catalogs Resource Center acquisitions and is familiar with a variety of Christian Formation materials.
- Consults with visitors requesting information, and helps and coordinates with the missioner for lifelong Christian formation.
- Maintains other diocesan committee collections located in the Resource Center.
- Keeps the budget for the Christian Formation Council and the Resource Center.
- Contributes to the diocesan Web site, the Christian Formation newsletter and participates in Christian Formation programs when requested.
- Attends Christian Formation Council meetings and Diocesan Convention.
Coordinator of Facilities
- Welcomes and announces guests to the Diocesan Center.
- Staffs switchboard and provides information and answers to inquiries where possible.
- Negotiates the use of and reserves conference space in the center for the diocese, the cathedral, and outside groups.
- Maintains and distributes the Diocesan Center calendar to the staff and other entities, including the property manager and custodial staff wherein instructions for room configuration and needs are provided.
- Maintains events calendar on the diocesan Web site.
- Deals with people in need who come to the center; i.e., refers to resources in community, makes contact with resources for them, when possible.
Deployment Assistant
- Assists with the work of the Commission on Ministry, including attending monthly meetings of the COM and its executive board, by performing extensive tasks related to the formation process, seminarian files, candidate interviews and the Ordination Service. Prepares tuition checks and Clinical Pastoral Education checks for the various seminaries and other institutions.
- Supports the work of the search and transition consultants working with congregations in the diocese by maintaining files, forwarding information, assisting in the preparation of parish profiles, communicating with the Episcopal Church Deployment Office, overseeing background investigations and reviewing files of the newly called.
- Maintains the clergy area of the diocese’s database, including updating the list and communicating changes as appropriate; prepares and distributes The Clergy Mailing.
- Assists clergy with their Church Deployment Office profiles.
The Rev. Canon Dr.
Canon Missioner for Clergy Deployment, Congregational Development and Evangelism
- Works with vestries, search committees and consultants during clergy transition.
- Works with clergy who are exploring the possibility of new calls to ministry.
- Works with clergy and vestries to diagnose congregational health, plan for development, and to conduct Mutual Ministry reviews.
- Meets regularly with deployment and congregational development officers regionally and nationally.
- Manages the Percept, Inc. account.
- Trains and deploys consultants to assist search committees and vestries.
The Rev. Canon
Canon to the Bishops
- Sunday Visitations: meets with clergy and vestry or advisory board of a different parish each week, attends morning worship services, preaches, teaches, and celebrates the Eucharist.
- Diocesan Convention: serves on Planning Team for Diocesan Convention and as Dispatch of Business at Convention (maintains schedule, meeting flow) and keeps the bishops informed.
- Diocesan Staff: presides at staff meetings and serves as staff morale officer.
- Conducts vestry retreats, Mutual Ministry reviews, crises interventions, spiritual direction and retreats, congregational development, and pastoral and mission strategy planning.
- Represents bishops on Claggett Board, Johns Hopkins Chaplaincy Committee, Seafarers’ Board, and other such boards at bishops’ request. Attends Diocesan Council and Council Planning meetings.
- Provides pastoral care, vocational, and clergy support to clergy and their families.
Administrative Assistant to the Bishops
- Assists and supports the bishops in their ministry: maintains correspondence, keeps current records of clergy and lay ministry licenses and certificates, canonical list of clergy practicing in the diocese, letters dimissory, remarriage requests and oaths of conformity.
- Compiles Official Acts of Bishop(s), including confirmations and ordinations, for publication in the Post-Convention Diocesan Journal.
- Administers Clergy Children Scholarships and manages the bishops’ discretionary fund.
- UTO Grant Applications: distributes packets, tracks grant requests, acts as liaison with diocesan UTO coordinator, submits final application to the United Thanks Offering Committee and arranges disbursement of UTO funds.
Associate Director of Development and Communications
- Administers the Bishops’ Appeal: prepares and distributes marketing materials, acknowledges gifts and maintains database of donors; prepares financial reports.
- Maintains the database of parishioners for Maryland Church News. Updates addresses, enters new parishioners, prepares and transmits the database to the MCN mailhouse.
- Maintains and updates the diocesan Web site; updates the homepage, adds new content, manages existing content.
- Assists with communications from the diocese. Assists with compiling content for the Parish Mailing and Maryland Church News.
- Provides tech-support within the diocesan office and manages in-house e-mail accounts.
- Assists parishes and committees with internal and external communications, e-mail, technology, and Web sites.

- Tireless promoter of the Bishop Claggett Center as a ministry center and resource throughout the Diocese and the Region.
- Responsible for all aspects of administration for the Claggett Center
Archivist
- Assists researchers, especially official diocesan requests, asking to use the Archives, whether in person, by mail, phone, or e-mail.
- Maintains, processes and files material within the Archives.
- Oversees the Archives budget.
- Performs outreach activities, such as workshops, talks, programs, exhibits, written articles and parish visits.
- Maintains the records-retention policy to ensure that records created during the normal work of the diocese are placed in the archives at the end of their current usefulness.
- Serves as liaison between the diocese and the Archives; and is an advocate for the Archives.
Administrative Assistant to the Office Manager & Human Resources Coordinator
- Reconciles insurance accounts by comparing diocesan and Medical Trust invoices. Reconciles Medical Trust and diocesan insurance data bases. Assists the HR Coordinator with insurance enrollment and changes.
- Convention Registration: enters information into computer program, mailings; updates information for the Journals; updates senior warden and treasurer information.
- Provides clerical support to Exploring Ministry and Finding Our Way programs, which includes rosters, folders, mailings and financial records.
Office Administrator
- Annual Diocesan Convention: oversees and organizes all details of Convention, including hotel contracts, planning team meetings, and certification and registration of clergy, lay and youth delegates, and visitors.
- Pre- and Post-Convention Journals: creates electronic layout of the Pre- and Post-Convention Journals. Plans schedule to organize submission of committee reports, updated clergy listing, and school and parish information in a timely manner.
- Oversees expenses for office equipment and service contracts amount.
- Provides on-site support for computer troubleshooting and repairs, including daily miscellaneous computer, copier and e-mail problem solving; schedules contracted service company to fix complex issues.
- Updates committee chair member contact information; senior warden and administrator information; clergy and parish changes for directory in Pre-Convention Journal.
Office Clerk
- Assists with diocesan mailings: photocopies, collates and packages mailings; sorts and delivers bulk mailings to the post office.
- Distributes incoming mail and faxes.
- Maintains photocopier and organizes copy supplies; fixes copier jams as necessary, maintains copier paper.
- Assists the Human Resources Office with data-entry, invoicing and reporting of checks received.
- Shreds confidential documents as needed.

The Rev.
Missioner for Lifelong Christian Formation
- Supports the needs of congregations, as well as the diocese and diocesan committees, as a whole in the area of Christian Education for all ages; assists congregations, clusters and regions in developing programs and leadership.
- Works in partnership with the Christian Formation Council and Resource Center to nurture networking opportunities, develop leadership training programs and advocate Continuing Education programs for educators.
- Shares information about curricula, current resources, training programs and conferences; and facilitates the sharing of educational resources, information and technology among congregations.
- Collaborates with the Youth Missioner, bishops, Bishop Claggett Center programming committee and other diocesan committees to integrate a variety of training and educational events.

Administrative Assistant to the Bishops
- Coordinates the master calendar for both bishops. Prepares the Sunday Visitation schedule with the canon to the bishops, and the Confirmation Schedule with the youth missioner and missioner for lifelong Christian formation.
- Answers the telephone in the Bishops’ Suite. Fields questions or finds the person(s) who can.
- When the Bishop is absent, opens and checks his e-mails daily.
Communications Editor
- Publish, quarterly, Maryland Church News (MCN), the journal of the diocese
- Solicit advertising, maintain rate card and schedule
- Write/edit diocesan publications as needed
- Public Relations: assist parishes, diocesan staff, and diocesan committees/groups/entities in publicizing, advertising, marketing and communicating news, events and/or programs both within and outside the diocese

- Consults and meets with clergy on youth issues (Mending Creation), youth group activities, etc. Maintains contact with clergy and assists them with youth concerns and issues.
- Coordinates and plans diocesan programs, including Nightwatch, retreats, Bishops’ Teaching Days, mission trips and activities.
- Participates in Provincial Youth Network. Meets and communicates with the other youth missioners of the province to plan retreats, programs, and EYE events.
- Coordinates and assists the Hispanic Mission in the diocese. Plans and oversees the diocesan budget for the Hispanic Mission, and coordinates the growth and maintenance of Hispanic congregations.
- Oversees and coordinates the exchange program with the Diocese of Honduras. Guides and assists the visiting clergy in adapting to this culture and supplying this person with all the resources needed for this mission.
